Fishing for Taimen
Quick Reference Itinerary
Day 1Upon arrival in Mongolia's capital city, Ulaanbaatar, you will be transferred to the Bayangol Hotel. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a leisurely program of sightseeing around the city and a visit to the Natural History Museum and view a variety of fossils from animals and dinosaurs living up to 70 million years ago. Dinner will be at a local restaurant. Overnight accommodations at the Bayangol Hotel. Day 2After breakfast in the hotel you will be taken to the airport for the flight to Moron City - Capital of Khuvsugul Aimag. The flight will take one and a half hour and our guide will accompany you. Upon arrival you will be met by our support team and the drivers and drive to Beltes river. This river has very strong flow. The source of this river begins from the southern side of the mountain Khoridol Saridag and it flows about 90 km between the mountain valleys and it emerges to large Delger river. Make a camp at the bank of the river. The spot is surrounded by beautiful nature. There are fish such as Lenok and Siberian Grayling. There will be a chance to do some fishing in the evening and in the early morning.
Day 3We continue to drive into the depression of Darkhad Valley. Darkhad Valley is wide open steppe area surrounded by high mountains of Soyon, Red Taiga and the Khoridol Saridag Mountain range. The altitude of the place is 1700 m above sea level. This spot is very rich with surface water. There are about 300 lakes and many rivers and streams in the depression. The biggest river in Darkhad Valley is Shishigt River. Many rivers and lakes flow into this river that is one of the originating streams of the Enisei River. We will drive to Hogiin River and set our base camp for the following few days. Day 4Fishing at Hogiin River Day 5-6We will drive a short distance from the base camp to Alag Tseel River to fish. Lunch will be served at the spot. In the afternoon drive back to the base camp.
Day 7-8For those two days we will fish at Shishigt River. It is a short drive from the base camp, every afternoon we will return to our base camp by Hogiin River. From above mentioned rivers we will be able to catch Siberian Whitefish, Lenok,Taimen, Fresh water cod , Roach, Dace and Siberian Ide. Day 9Today we drive to the Khuvsgul lake, It is a full day drive through absolutely beautiful hilly countryside, past fast flowing rivers and Alpine forests. On arrival we will set camp on the Southern shore of the lake. The mineral of this water is very low, so the water in the Lake is fresh. The deepest spot of this lake is about 262 m. This Lake is considered as one of the deepest lakes in Central Asia. Many rivers emerge to this lake. The water is crystal clear, the nature pristine and the setting is truly idyllic. There are many rivers flowing into this large lake but only the Egiin river flows out of this lake. Day 10-11These two days we will fish in the area of Egiin River. There are different species of fish such as the Taimen, Siberian Ide and Whitefish, Freshwater Cod, Catfish and River Perch.
Day 12In the morning we drive to Moron and take the return flight to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to Bayangol hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 13We will enjoy a full day of guided sightseeing within the city of Ulaanbaatar. In the morning, we will visit Gandan Monastery which is the largest in the country. Additionally, it was the only monastery functioning during Socialist times and is now the religious center of the country. We will then visit the National History and Fine Arts Museums. Both museums house impressive displays of Mongolia's national and religious history. Our evening program will be a performance by the Ensemble of National Song and Dance at Ulaanbaatar's Drama Theater followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight accommodations will be at the Bayangol Hotel. Day 14After breakfast at the hotel you will be taken to the airport for your departure flight. |
