Day 1

On arrival in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, you will be transferred to the Bayan Gol Hotel. In the afternoon there will be time for some historical explorations of the wonderful National History Museum of Ulaanbaatar. This museum houses excellent displays of historical accounts of the time of Genghis Khan and his ancestors, including models of the great gers that Genghis lived in and which were pulled by a flock of hundreds of horses2

Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel we will drive out of the city to the east into National Park and reach Hoh Nuur, which in translation means Blue Lake. This is at the foothill of Har Zurh Mountain.(meaning Black Heart). The area around Blue Lake is a beautiful setting, surrounded forested and an abundance of wild flowers and bird life. This is the place, where in 1189 the ceremony of conferring the title of Genghis Khan was granted to the young Temuujin, and thus he became the King of the Mongols. Not far from the lake on the ground there is a trace of the 15m wide ger that was Genghis' dwelling. Meals and overnight at the ger camp.

Day 3

Today we will drive short way to the ger camp locates in the east edge of Khangal Lake. Afternoon is in leisure, we will walk in surrounding area to explore. Meals and overnight at the ger camp.

Day 4

Today we will continue our driving until we reach the ger camp at Khurkh. On the way we will explore deer stone on the valley of Jargalant river and ruins of Baldan Bereeven Monastery. The monastery was erected by granite rocks and was sanctified in 1724. There was a big temple that was 3 stories high and with 32 pillars around it. Later the monastery was destroyed and now only the ruins of the walls are left. On the rocky hills that surround the monastery there are art works of religious paintings. We will explore the ruins and meet the monks and carpenters who are now working on restoring the Monastery. In the afternoon we will reach our ger camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Today we will take a day trip in the surrounding area, visiting several historical sites and a local nomadic family of the area. In this part of Mongolia the Buryat minority group live as nomadic herders. This unique group of people also reside in southern Siberia and into Tuva. First we will explore the rock writings at Rashaan Had Rock. There are about twenty different scripts including Orkhon-Enisey, Kidan, Arabian, Persian, Mongolian, Tibetan and Chinese. In the area near the rock there are ancient burial sites that date to 20000 years BC, also archaeological finds of stone and bronze ages had been made in the area. Then we come to the Ancestor's Wall, which was erected from big red granite rocks and that half encircles a small rocky hill. The wall is about 3 feet wide, 8-10 feet high and 4.78 miles in length. It is thought that the wall was built in the 13th century, but remains in remarkably good condition. This is the place where Yesukhei the Genghis' father was buried. Meals and overnight at the previous night ger camp.

Day 6

Today we will drive further to the north, quite close to the Russian border to the town known as Dadal Soum. Tonight we will stay in a tourist ger camp near Gurvan Nuur Lake.

Day 7-8

These 2 days we will spend at ger camp at Gurvan Nuur. This is picturesque place with forest of pine all around, small lakes in the forest and rich of different birds. First day we will take a day trip in the surrounding area. We will walk to the low hill called Deluun Boldog, where Temuujin was born. There is a small spring flowing by where Temuujin was been washed after birth. We will also visit the Cave where Khokhochu the Shaman was living at that time. Second day there will be time for exploring the area around the lake at leisure. We will have overnight at the previous nights' tourist camp.

Day 9

This morning we will start our driving early morning as this is going to be long drive. Today we drive to a place known as Kherlengiin Khodoo Aral. As mentioned in the Secret History, this is the place where the actual Secret History book was finished written by unknown Mongolian historian in 1240. Meals and overnight at the ger camp.

Day 10

Today we will have rest day walking in surrounding area. In the area there is a trace of Great Aurag Palace. This was the first city of the Mongolian Empire that we will explore. Also there is spring water in this Valley. Meals and overnight at the ger camp.

Day 11

Today we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar and you will be returned to the Bayan Gol Hotel. Dinner and overnight will be at the Bayan Gol Hotel.

Day 12

Today will be a full day of sightseeing in the city. We will start at the Buddhist Monastery, the largest in Mongolia, Gandan Hiid. We will also visit the Natural History Museum and the ancient Palace of the last Bogd Khan. After lunch there will be time for some shopping and purchasing of souvenirs. The evening program will be of a local concert featuring Mongolia music and dancing followed by a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 13

Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
